Our weekly Shandy’s update and fitting 5 days into 4!
A short week just means fitting 5 days into 4 here at Shandy's.
The weather actually needs a mention this week as we haven't been out of single figures this week, with mornings in the minus's, beautiful sunny days but winter has made a statement!!
We attended a workshop as we also rear calves in the spring, so keeping up with improvements in all aspects of our business is important.
Andy was then flat out cooking, bottling and labeling sauce for the Southern Crafters Market and yes it is over 6 weeks away but it all has to fit in with everything else, and the shorter days don't assist in the productivity levels, we are really looking forward to sharing our goodies in the deep south at the Southern Crafters Market. We managed to fit in some bulk sauce for the Springfield Hotel who use our awesome homemade sauce on several menu selections.
Interesting Fact
The Sharon half of Shandy's has a huge family history in Southland, with both paternal and maternal side coming from Southland, both sides of ancestors originated from Ireland and Scotland with the paternal side settling in Invercargill in 1859 and Dad being born in Gore. The maternal side settled in Tuatapere with Mum being born there, so plenty of family ties still spread out around Southland. Sharon herself lived in Southland for a while and our daughter was born in Invercargill.
Sharon is adjusting yet again, with the plummet in temperatures and shorter daylight hours, even in climate controlled rooms the mushrooms are thinking about hibernation so all things mushrooms may be a little exclusive for the next few weeks. We very much appreciate your understanding and patience throughout winter.
What's coming up
It’s pretty quiet on the shows/extra markets at this time of year but Andy is still out on these freezing early Sunday mornings heading into the South Christchurch Farmers Market then inside in the afternoon to the Riverside Market at the Riverside Pantry. So if you are in and around Christchurch or if you are like one of our customers who drives up from Ashburton to the market, call in Andy is always there ready for a chat.
Here at Shandy's we do like to be self-sufficient and cook from scratch etc so we have added a new recipe that’s not sauce or mushroom related that visitors to our home always ask for the recipe once tasted.
